About Me

“Art is not what you see, but what you make others see”

– Edgar Degas

How I Got Started

My passion for painting came about in October 2017 when I was painting pumpkins (instead of carving) for Halloween. Being an American citizen, this is one of our traditions. I enjoyed painting them and decided to join a local Art Group (Artists of Navenby) in Lincolnshire, U.K. I started out using Acrylic. I am self-taught receiving encouragement and support from the Art Group. My first Art Exhibition was with the Group in May 2018 where I sold a number of paintings and received a commission for a beach painting. Even, at this early stage, a local Home Accessories Shop in the village supported my Artworks and cards by displaying them in their Shop and selling well, there.

After this time and during 2019, I decided to pursue Watercolour and attended local Workshops and also one-to-one sessions with a local Tutor, as I wanted to learn more of the medium of Watercolour.

Then, COVID struck. This gave me the opportunity to really push myself and concentrate on my painting. I also participated in Zoom Workshops to further develop my skills and style. During this time, my Facebook Shop kept me extremely busy with sales.

As we were coming out of Covid, I approached a few Art Galleries and my Artworks were well received by them to exhibit at their Galleries. So, in late 2021, I had two Solo Art Exhibitions and a joint one, where a number of paintings were sold and a commission was received. At the end of 2021, I completed a Diploma Course, in Drawing and Painting, with the London College of Art receiving a Merit for my Coursework, after a year’s studying.

As my paintings in Watercolour were progressing, I ventured into producing my Artworks into cards. I, also, branched out into hand-painted cards and various other forms of cards. I then dipped my toes into standing at local Art & Craft Events and received many compliments on my Artworks and other items that I produced, such as cards and Notelets, all derived from my Artworks. This proved so successful that I continue to this day.

I developed my Shop page on Facebook and rapidly developed a number of followers and am doing very well with enquiries and sales via Facebook. I also hang my Artworks in local outlets with successful sales.

My Style

My style is quite eclectic and constantly developing. I appreciate all forms of Artwork, whether it be Fine Art, Modern, Abstracts or other genres. Each painting is unique to the Artist and also to the viewer!

My latest subject is ‘Contemporary Landscapes’, which is continually evolving.

I have always enjoyed being creative and diverse in so many ways throughout my life and I would like to think that shows through my Artworks as being different, eclectic and of a simple style.

My Onward Journey

I see my onward journey in painting continually developing with further Art Exhibitions and even doing my own Workshops. Art is my passion in life and if I can inspire others to take up the brush, at whatever their age, that will be enough for me. I look forward to continuing my Art journey.

I believe, as human beings, we are all different in all aspects of life and so, too, Art attracts and affects each and every one of us, in its own way. Some may not like Abstract and others may not like Fine Art, that’s the way it works.

The Mantra I use is ART HAS NO RULES, ONLY PLEASURE.

Whatever Art you may have in your homes, or offices, or wherever, if it gives you pleasure, then that is what it is all about.
